GIANTSTEP is divided into several teams. The idea came up to use the Vive tracking system to record the path of a virtual camera. By doing so, the CG team could speed up its workflow when they needs to realize a cinematographer's camera path. I built a unity plugin to create scriptable objects containing all necessary data of the camera and the path. The user can import a simple 3D scene into unity and simulate the trajectory using a wireless virtual camera tracked by a Vive controller. The path can then be edited automatically or with splines where the user can adjust, add and remove points. The final scriptable objects can then be converted into a CSV file to be imported into Maya with a plugin developed by my colleague.
